About Stuart
I’m an experienced BACP-accredited therapist, with a 1st class Masters degree in Counselling from The University of Manchester. I’ve been working as a therapist for about 10 years and in that time I’ve been lucky to gain lots of different experience, working in a range of settings including services for young people, the LGBT+ community and even prisons. I also work within the music industry in mastering and audio production.
I am an “integrative” therapist, which basically means that I work with a range of different therapeutic models, depending on the person I’m working with and the nature of the issues they’re bringing. I’m a firm believer that the therapy model should fit around the individual person and not the other way around. We all have preferred ways of relating and communicating, and different lenses for experiencing the world. My job is to understand yours and work in whatever way is most helpful to you.
Although this list is not exhaustive, I specialise in the following areas:
Anxiety and worry
OCD
Depression
Trauma and PTSD symptomsThe impact of sexual abuse, rape or assault
LGBT+
Self esteem and identity issuesRelationship difficulties
Mindfulness
Sexual issues
Clients escaping persecution, prejudice or torture in their country of origin
Difficulties with drugs and alcohol
Chemsex
I was drawn to work as a therapist after accessing therapy myself on various occasions through my life. I found the experience of therapy transformative, insightful and extremely valuable. I wanted to help other people in the same way, so I decided to train as a therapist.
Being a therapist doesn’t mean I have all the answers. I’m as complex and flawed as everyone else! But I strongly believe that self-exploration and understanding can help us all live a life that is more authentic and fulfilling.
